Missing vehicle found, Toronto woman charged in Markham murder

Investigators with the York Regional Police Homicide Unit have located the missing vehicle and laid charges in the suspicious death of a man in the City of Markham.

On Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020 shortly after 2 p.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Feeney Lane for a report of a man who was found inside of a residence deceased. The deceased was later identified as Mohammad Mehdi Amin Sadeghieh, 58, of the City of Markham.

On Oct. 30, 2020, the vehicle that was missing was located in the City of Toronto. On Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2020, a warrant was executed in the City of Toronto and a suspect was placed under arrest.

Charged:
    •    Charmaine Anne Guisalta, 27, City of Toronto
    •    Also known as Charmaine Anne Samonte  

Charge:
    •    Second degree murder

Ms. Guisalta has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Nov. 5, 2020.

While the investigation is ongoing, investigators do not believe there is a connection between the victim’s political views and his murder. There are also no public safety concerns for the community as investigators are not looking for additional suspects in this case.
