LETTER: Federal election was big waste of time

RE: LETTER: Not winning popular vote again speaks volumes about Trudeau's 'clear mandate', Sept. 24, 2021.

Dianne Cooper’s letter exploring the madness of Justin Trudeau’s election is spot on!

Calling an election with two full years yet to use just poured added waste upon his slush pile of scandal and corruption.

But what hurts is that he stopped government in midstream, and just as it was most needed, for some power grab. Had he only engaged the Opposition to get stuff done he might have proven himself a statesman. And there was plenty on his plate!

Years ago he promised extra billions to back up the medical system without backing up his words. It’s sickening to have witnessed Taiwan’s health system, among several newly developed nations, surpassing the quality on Canada’s health by many fold. The entire health system needs massive restructuring and input, yet it has been neglected for decades. Where is Trudeau’s heart when he reads of how ordinary Canadians are given Third World treatment in some of our best hospitals?

Another Trudeau promise was proportional voting, as in New Zealand and Australia, where EVERY cast vote REALLY counts in determining the winner. But he sidestepped this knowing it would end his first-past-the-post racket of strategic voting.

The opportunity costs of this election go on and on. Since it was all a big waste of time, I urge someone to sue Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party to at least pay the costs of this election.
