LETTER: Not winning popular vote again speaks volumes about Trudeau's 'clear mandate'

This federal election was just another typical blunder organized by our narcissistic prime minister during a pandemic, when the country is bleeding red.

The Trudeau government calls a snap election during a pandemic in which we are supposed to socially segregate and many individuals were fearful of going to the polling station.

I, for one, would question the fibre of the man who calls an election knowing full well the concerns of people in general, and especially elderly people who may have health issues preventing them from going out in public. Has our government not been telling us to stay home and socially segregate for the past 18 months? It is this sort of leadership or lack thereof that should concern us all. It certainly does not concern our local MP, Tony Van Bynen, who has been a ghost for two years.

Another issue was the problem recruiting polling station workers, Elections Canada simply could not get the resources, and there were long line-ups at the polls. My first attempt to vote was around 5:45 p.m. The line-up was horrendous, so I went back home and tried again no less than three times after that. Finally, I got into the polling station around 8:50 p.m. after waiting outside for approximately 25 minutes.

Mr. Trudeau stated we are sending his minority government back to work with a clear mandate to get us through this pandemic and brighter times ahead. Perhaps he should have said, "We squeaked out another one, and we need to work closely with the other parties to navigate through the times ahead."

I certainly do not see a clear mandate, I'm not sure Trudeau understands that, or cares. The Liberals did not win the popular vote, again, I think that speaks volumes about a "clear mandate." When Trudeau finally departs his personal drama stage that we call Canada, our children and grandchildren will be paying for his blunders, however, he will be receiving a pension from this country. Perhaps these are his "brighter days ahead."

Justin Trudeau has nobody's back but his own. Why else would he call an election during these times? Each of you can ponder that. Some may believe he has your back, but he can stay the hell away from mine!
