Suspect in 2022 double murder in Vaughan nightclub arrested in U.S.

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant following a double homicide in a Vaughan nightclub in 2022 has been arrested by the United States Marshals Service.

The suspect was taken into custody by marshals in Hartford, Connecticut on Tuesday, March 26.

York Regional Police homicide unit members have been working the investigation and partnered with the BOLO (Be On the Look Out) Program, the RCMP INTERPOL fugitive apprehension support team and United States Marshals Service to locate the suspect, according to police.

Investigators are working with the Ministry of the Attorney General to extradite the suspect to York Region.

Kensworth Alton Francis, 29, of Mississauga is charged with first degree murder x2 and attempted murder, police said.

On Saturday, July 23, 2022 at about 3:30 a.m., York Regional Police officers located three victims with gunshot wounds at ATL Lounge at 2220 Highway 7 West.

Two of the victims, Tosin Amos-Arowoshegbe, 25, and Chibueze Momah, 22, died, while the third victim, a 20-year-old female, survived.

York Regional Police acknowledges the efforts of its law enforcement partners in the arrest. The BOLO Program is an initiative leveraging social media, technology, and innovative engagement to encourage citizens to be on the lookout for Canada’s most wanted.
