Police have identified the body found in Lake Simcoe on Aug. 29,2020 as Soo Jin Ju.

The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is appealing for information after a female victim, who was located deceased in Lake Simcoe last summer, was recently identified.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020, shortly after noon, officers received a call to the docks near Lake Drive North on Lake Simcoe. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a body in the water.

Following a lengthy and thorough investigation, officers identified the victim as Soo Jin Ju, who was 59 years old at the time her body was discovered.

Her death has been deemed a homicide.

Soo Jin Ju was reported missing in February 2018 from the City of Toronto. She was last seen in the area of Yonge Street and Finch Avenue.

The victim is a South Korean citizen and was residing in the Town of Oakville at the time of her disappearance.

While in Canada, the victim was known to use the following names: Su Yoen Kim, Soo Hyun Kim, and Bo Kyung Joo.

Investigators are appealing to anybody who knew the victim, or has information relating to her disappearance or murder, to contact the Homicide Unit.
