UPDATE: York police launch murder investigation after body found in Lake Simcoe

The deceased is an unidentified woman who was dressed for cold weather

The York Regional Police Homicide Unit is investigating after a body was located in the Town of Georgina.

On Saturday, Aug. 29, 2020 shortly after noon, officers received a call to the docks near Lake Drive North on Lake Simcoe. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a body floating in the water.

A post-mortem examination was conducted and it has been determined that the deceased is an unidentified adult female who is approximately 5’1” in height and was dressed for cold weather. The cause of death has not been determined at this time, but the death is considered suspicious.
