Vaughan woman in her 20s York Region's 9th COVID-19 case

York Region’s public health unit today confirmed its ninth positive COVID-19 case involving a Vaughan woman in her 20s who contracted the illness during travel.

She is in self-isolation, according to public health’s dedicated webpage that is updated twice daily at 10:45 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.

York Region Public Health continues to closely monitor and respond to the COVID-19 global pandemic, here in York Region’s nine municipalities and across Canada.

There is no evidence of community spread locally and the risk to residents of acquiring the virus in the community remains low, the region’s medical officer of health Dr. Karim Kuriji said.

The local public health is working closely with hospitals and community health care providers to keep them informed on the evolving situation and ensure reporting and management of any persons under investigation.
