LETTER: Dog poop, trash degrade beautiful Newmarket trail

'Some people who are using the trail seem not to take care of it, and they do not respect the bylaws posted by the town,' reader laments of Tom Taylor Trail

A beautiful winter scene along Newmarket's trail system.

We have been using the Tom Taylor Trail for years, for our daily walks, jogging and taking our dog.

In the last year or so, some people who are using the trail seem not to take care of it, and they do not respect the bylaws posted by the town.

Now we can see many pets unleashed, dog poop everywhere, and groups of people using the whole width of the trail showing lack of respect for others.

We even see more garbage in the river, like plastic, old tires and debris, putting stress on the wildlife habitat of this beautiful area.

I would be willing to volunteer in any task to help preserve our beautiful trail and parks. Is it possible to coordinate with the town on a cleanup of the river of any debris or junk that it is affecting the wildlife, specially the waterfowl birds?

We hope the people and the town take note and take care to preserve this landmark of Newmarket.
