York Regional Police have set up a second mobile command post to address residents' security concerns as a result of the Israel-Hamas war.

The force's RIDE truck will be deployed to the Canada’s Wonderland parking lot in Vaughan today and Wednesday, and then will move to Armadale Community Centre in Markham Thursday and Friday. The RIDE truck will re-locate to Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill this weekend.

“YRP continues to co-ordinate with our federal and provincial partners and no credible threat has been identified within the region at this time,” according to a police news release. “However, we are actively monitoring the situation and will continue to deploy police resources strategically.”

The first mobile command post at The Promenade mall parking lot in Thornhill will remain in place, police said.

Both command posts will be staffed daily from 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to take reports and discuss any community concerns.

The command posts will remain in the community until at least next Monday, police added.

“We have zero tolerance for incidents motivated by hate in our community and we will thoroughly investigate any reports of hate-motivated offences, incidents or acts,” police stated. “We understand the feelings of conflict and pain in our community as events around the world continue to be felt here in York Region.”
