York Regional Police officer charged with fraud

The York Regional Police Professional Standards Bureau has charged an officer with fraud following an internal investigation.

In the spring of 2021, members of the Professional Standards Bureau began an investigation into an officer regarding a possible fraud. Investigation revealed that the YRP employee was working as a realtor during his scheduled YRP working hours.

Const. Jamil Saade, 30, of the City of Markham, was charged with fraud under $5,000. He will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in the Town of Newmarket on Aug. 3, 2021.

The accused has been a member of York Regional Police since 2013 and had most recently been working in the Information Management Unit.
