Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid charges in connection with a shooting at a restaurant lounge in Vaughan.
On Jan, 2 at approximately 3 a.m., police responded to reports of multiple shots fired at the La Shish Bar and Grill, located at 4040 Steeles Avenue West. When officers arrived, they learned that an altercation took place between male patrons inside the building before it was carried outside into the parking lot. The sound of gunshots was heard and police learned that a 34-year-old female victim was transported to hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.
Through the investigation officers identified a suspect and on Feb, 15, 2023, he was arrested.
- Osalumense Odigie, 36, of no fixed address is charged with:
- Attempted murder using a firearm
- Discharge firearm with intent
- Discharge firearm - recklessness
- Use firearm while committing offence of attempted murder
- Using firearm while committing offence of discharge firearm – recklessness
- Criminal negligence causing bodily harm
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Fail to comply with release order
Investigators are appealing to anyone with information to please come forward, including anyone with video surveillance or dashcam footage in the area.
