Wrong way crash with snowplow leads to impaired driving charges

An incident involving a woman from Oshawa and a snowplow in Vaughan has led to an impaired driving charge. 

A 27-year-old woman from Oshawa was hit with an impaired-related criminal driving offence after driving the wrong way on the road and colliding head on with a snowplow in Vaughan. 

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, shortly before 2 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a collision in the area of Vellore Woods Boulevard and Major Mackenzie Drive West. 

Officers determined that the car had been driving the wrong way on the roadway and collided with a snowplow, police said.

The driver of the car was investigated and arrested at the scene for 80 Plus. Officers also located open alcohol within the vehicle.

Breath samples submitted by the driver were found to be over the legal limit. The driver’s vehicle was impounded for seven days and licence was suspended for 90 days, according to police
