Woman shot in altercation at Vaughan restaurant

Police say 34-year-old's gunshot wound was non-life threatening, as they appeal for witnesses, dash cam, video surveillance or cellphone footage

A woman was shot Monday after an altercation at a Vaughan restaurant lounge spilled into the parking lot before turning violent.

York Regional Police said they responded to reports of multiple shots being fired at La Shish Bar and Grill at 4040 Steeles Ave W. Jan. 2 at around 3 a.m.

When officers arrived, they learned an altercation had taken place between male patrons inside the building before it was carried outside.

Gunshots were heard and police were advised one victim was taken to hospital prior to their arrival.

The suspects had fled the scene, police said in a news release.

Investigators located a 34-year-old female at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Police said they believe this incident was isolated and there is no threat to public safety.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police are asked to come forward.
