Woman sexually assaulted in Richmond Hill medical clinic

York Regional Police were called when a man returned several weeks after the assault occurred

Investigators with the York Regional Police Special Victims Unit – Sexual Assault Section are seeking assistance to identify a suspect wanted for a sexual assault that occurred at a medical clinic in the City of Richmond Hill.

The incident occurred on Monday, Feb. 24, 2020, at approximately 4 p.m., when a man entered a medical clinic located in the area of Highway 7 East and Valleymede Drive. The suspect was speaking to an employee of the clinic at the front counter.

As the employee turned her back to look at a computer, the suspect sexually assaulted her then ran out of the clinic. The sexual assault was reported to police on Tuesday, March 17, 2020, when the suspect returned to the clinic and employees called police.

The suspect fled the area prior to police arrival. Images are being released and investigators are appealing to the community for assistance to identify the suspect.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.

There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.

If you are the survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:

  • You are not in danger
  • The person who assaulted you is not present
  • There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred.
  • You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not have access
