Wellington reopens after police clear suspicious 'beeping' package (Update)

York Regional Police have re-opened Wellington Street in Aurora after investigating a suspicious package left on the sidewalk Saturday night.

The "beeping" package turned out to be a discarded fire alarm, police said after Wellington was briefly closed at about 8:30 p.m. from Bayview Avenue to Mary Street for the investigation.

"Not sure why you would leave it on the sidewalk but all is safe," police said on Twitter.
