Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau continue to search for a suspect wanted in connection with a break and enter into a home in the Town of Newmarket.

On Saturday, May 23, 2020, at approximately 7:45 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Adam Place, which is in the area of Yonge Street and Davis Drive, for a report of a break and enter that had occurred overnight. Officers spoke with the homeowners, reviewed video surveillance and determined that a lone male suspect approached the home just before 3 a.m.

He entered two unlocked vehicles in the driveway before forcing entry into the home through French doors at the front entrance. The suspect entered the kitchen, took a large knife and tucked it in the waistband of his pants, then proceeded through the house. The suspect entered the homeowners’ bedroom while they were sleeping and took a cell phone and a quantity of currency. The homeowners did not wake up during the incident and discovered what had occurred in the morning.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance and investigators released his photos. Thanks to tips from the community through Crime Stoppers, the suspect has been identified. A warrant has been issued for his arrest but he has not yet been located.

Investigators are urging the suspect to speak with a lawyer and turn himself in. Anyone with information on the suspect’s location is asked to contact police. Anyone who aids or assists this suspect in hiding or evading police may be subject to a criminal charge of accessory after the fact.
