VIDEO: Police continue search for vehicle in fatal hit and run

Next of kin has been found for the pedestrian killed at Major Mackenzie and Cedar in Richmond Hill on Sept. 1

Investigators with the York Regional Police Major Collision Investigation Unit would like to thank the media and the public for their assistance after the next-of-kin of a pedestrian struck in a fail-to-remain fatal collision in the City of Richmond Hill were located.

Investigators continue to seek witnesses to help identify the suspect driver and vehicle.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022 at approximately 9:15 p.m., police were called to the intersection of Major Mackenzie Drive East and Cedar Avenue for reports of a pedestrian struck by a car. When officers arrived, they learned that a victim, a 26-year-old female, identified as Nouf Mohammed Almatrudi, had been crossing the street when she was hit by a dark-coloured Honda Civic that failed to remain at the scene. The female victim was taken to hospital where she was sadly pronounced deceased.

Suspect vehicle:
    •    2009 to 2011, four-door, Honda Civic
    •    Dark-coloured, possibly grey
    •    Loud muffler and damage to the front passenger side corner and windshield
