Video captures suspect in vehicle looting spree, theft in Georgina

Investigators with the York Regional Police #3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking assistance to identify two suspects wanted for multiple vehicle entries and the theft of a vehicle in the Town of Georgina.

During the late night hours of Sunday, May 31, 2020, through to the early morning hours of Monday, June 1, 2020, two suspects, one of whom was captured on video surveillance, entered unlocked vehicles that were parked in driveways in the areas of The Queensway South, Elm Avenue, Lake Drive South and Parkway Avenue. The suspects stole various items from the vehicles.

On Monday, June 1, 2020 shortly after 7 p.m., police recovered a stolen Honda CRV that was abandoned in a driveway on Thompson Drive in Jackson’s Point. The vehicle was found to have been stolen from a driveway on Parkway Avenue earlier in the morning and is believed to be connected to the suspects and string of thefts.

Investigators are releasing an image of one of the suspects and are appealing to anyone with information on his identity to please call police.

Suspect description:
    •    Male, tall
    •    Wearing a light-coloured hoodie, dark pants and carrying a bag

Investigators believe there may have been additional thefts from other vehicles in the area which may not have been reported to police. If there were items stolen from your vehicle, please come forward to report. Investigators are also seeking anyone who may have video surveillance of the suspects to also contact police.
