With the assistance of the air support unit in York Regional Police's new helicoptor, three suspects have been arrested in a vehicle theft investigation in King.

Officers on patrol observed an idling vehicle without a front plate in Nobleton last Saturday at about 3 a.m., a York Regional Police news release stated. When officers approached the vehicle, the driver fled at a high rate of speed, travelling southbound on Highway 27.

Officers in Air2 were able to respond quickly and safely track the suspect vehicle from above, police said.

Using a tire deflation device, officers on the ground successfully disabled the passing suspect vehicle, police said.

"Three suspects exited the vehicle and ran in different directions. With additional assistance from the canine unit, officers located and arrested all three suspects," police said.

Several master keys for vehicles were seized.

Zoe Korn, 22, of Quebec is charged with: possession of automobile master key; conspiracy to commit an indictable offence; flight from peace officer; escape lawful custody; and breach of probation.

Ibrahima Traore, 18 of Quebec is charged with: possession of automobile master key; and failure to comply with undertaking.

A male youth, 17, of Stratford is charged with: possession of automobile master key; and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Zoe Korn and Ibrahima Traore were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Friday, May 5, 2023, police said. The male youth is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
