Vaughan man arrested in connection with sexual assault of 15-year-old

Police believe there may be other victims

A 35-year-old Vaughan man has been arrested in connection with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old boy in a Vaughan park last month.

As a result of tips from the public, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, Irakli Logua was charged with sexual interference and sexual assault, York Regional Police said in a news release.

"Investigators with the York Regional Police Sexual Assault and Crimes Against Children Unit would like to thank the public and the media for their help in identifying a suspect in connection with a sexual assault at a park in the City of Vaughan," police said.

On Friday, Sept. 22 at about 9:30 p.m., a teenager was in Agostino Park near Rutherford Road and Confederation Parkway when he was approached a man, who touched the victim in a sexual manner.

Investigators believe that there may be more victims and are releasing a photo of Logua. Anyone with information is urged to come forward.

A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. York Regional Police would like to encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. If you are the survivor of sexual assault, you can report the incident online if:
    •    You are not in immediate danger
    •    The person who assaulted you is not present
    •    There is no evidence present that may be collected by police (blood, semen, saliva, etc.). Evidence can be collected for up to 12 days after the sexual assault has occurred
    •    You have access to a private email address, to which the suspect does not
