Two suspects with knives rob Markham store: Police

Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking assistance to identify two suspects following the robbery of a store in the City of Markham.

On Sunday, March 22, 2020 shortly after 1 p.m., police were called to a store located at 398 Ferrier St., which is just north of Steeles Avenue, for a report of a robbery. When officers arrived, they found an employee who was not physically injured.

Investigators have learned that at approximately 10:30 a.m., two men entered the store with their faces covered. Both men were armed with knives and made a demand for cash. The employee complied and the suspects fled in a grey sedan.

    •    Male, possibly Chinese
    •    5’9”, 150 lbs
    •    Wearing a black face mask, a black coat and black pants
    •    Armed with a knife

    •    Male, possibly Chinese
    •    5’9”, 170 lbs
    •    Wearing a black face mask, a black coat and black pants
    •    Armed with a knife

Investigators from the Hold-Up Unit remind business owners of the importance of maintaining and updating video surveillance equipment. Quality images help to identify suspects, can aid in arrests and have a tremendous impact during court proceedings.
