UPDATE: Police investigating fatal collision on Green Lane

65-year-old female passenger died in two-vehicle collision in area of Green Lane and 2nd Concession in East Gwillimbury

UPDATE, Nov. 24, 9:54 a.m.: York Regional Police are seeking witnesses following a fatal collision in East Gwillimbury.

A 65-year-old female passenger in a Volkswagen Tiguan was transported to hospital by Ornge Air Ambulance where she was pronounced dead. A 26-year-old female passenger in a BMW suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. 

Police were called to the two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Green Lane East and 2nd Concession at 1:47 p.m. The drivers of each vehicle only suffered minor injuries. 

At this time, no charges have been laid, but investigators are appealing to any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, and to anyone who may have dashcam footage or video surveillance of the area around the time of the collision, to please come forward.

Two drivers have been taken to hospital after a motor vehicle collision in the area of Green Lane and 2nd Concession in East Gwillimbury.

One driver was taken to a hospital in critical condition and another was transported by air ambulance with serious injuries, York Regional Police said.

Officers responded to a call for a two-vehicle collision at about 1:48 p.m. on Nov. 23 and York's major collision investigation unit remains on the scene.

While police tend to the incident, Green Lane will be closed from Yonge Street to Murrell Boulevard.

At this time police are advising drivers avoid the area and find alternate routes.
