Toronto man charged in Richmond Hill murder

York Regional Police are releasing more information about a murder Friday evening in Richmond Hill.

At around 6:35 p.m. Friday, police were asked to check on the welfare of a person at a Taylor Mills Drive South residence, where they found a man and a woman.

The woman was pronounced dead inside the home. 

The man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are now identifying the man as 35-year-old Daniil Matin of Toronto. He has been charged with second degree murder.

“The victim and the accused were known to each other, as they were previously in a relationship,” police said in a news release.

“At the request of the family, the victim’s identity is not being released at this time.”
