Suspicious fire guts plane at Markham's Buttonville Airport

Investigators with the #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a suspicious airplane fire that occurred at Buttonville Airport in the City of Markham.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, 2020, at 11:30 p.m., York Regional Police were called to Buttonville Airport, located at 2833 16th Avenue. When officers arrived they found a Dassualt Falcon 50 tri-jet on fire, outside of hangar #5. The fire was extinguished by Markham Fire and there were no injuries. Investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious is asked to come forward.
