Suspect wanted after cyclist yells anti-Semitic threats, vehicle damaged in Vaughan

York Regional Police believe the same man is involved in both incidents

Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking a suspect and witnesses after hate-motivated incidents occurred in the City of Vaughan.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, 2021, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Conley Street in Vaughan for report of threats. The victim advised that a suspect, described as male, Russian, age 28 to 30, was biking down the street and began yelling anti-Semitic threats at the victim.

The suspect fled on the bicycle prior to police arrival. The following day the victim observed anti-Semitic damage scratched into his vehicle. Investigators believe this was done by the same suspect.

York Regional Police does not tolerate hate crime in any form. Those who victimize individuals based on race, national or ethnic origin, language, colour, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or mental or physical disability will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
