York Regional Police is looking for a third suspect as part of an investigation into residential break-ins and vehicle thefts across the region.

In June, police arrested four suspects, including Jackson Lake, 21, of Richmond Hill, and Christian Nunez-Garcia, 21, of London, who were charged with break, enter and theft.

The suspects involved in these crimes are believed to be targeting homes with the intent to steal vehicles, which are often left in driveways overnight. On two occasions, suspects targeted vehicles that had their side mirrors extended, an indication the vehicles were unlocked.

The suspects would then use the garage door opener in the vehicle to enter the homes through the garage and obtain key fobs. They also entered through unlocked rear doors of residences, police said.

Police have released images of a suspect they believe was working with Lake and Nunez-Garcia. He is described as a Black man in his mid-20s, five-foot-11 to six feet tall and weighing 150 pounds. He was wearing all black clothing, with his pant legs tucked into his socks.

A video showing how the suspects commit the crimes can be seen here.

Anyone with information is asked to call the York Regional Police Integrated Property Crime Task Force at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7232, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Information can be provided anonymously at 1800222tips.com.

Police urge residents to ensure their vehicles are always locked, the windows are up, and to lock doors to their homes, including the inner garage door. Residents can visit York Regional Police district stations to get a free Faraday bag to store their key fobs in. The bags block signal-duplicating devices that can alter or replicate key fobs.
