SIU investigating death of man who fell from balcony in Vaughan

The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 29-year-old man in Vaughan on Monday.

York Regional Police officers responded to a man in crisis at a highrise on Portage Parkway on Monday, July 10 at approximately 10 a.m., according to an SIU news release.

Officers negotiated with the man and attempted to bring him to safety before he fell from a balcony on the 52nd floor of the building, the SIU said.

Three investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to investigate the case.
