Search continues for missing vulnerable woman seen in Newmarket

Last reported sighting of missing 35-year-old was in Newmarket in August

Police have released new information in an attempt to locate a Richmond Hill woman who was first reported missing in September.

York Regional Police say 35-year-old Rebecca Hearty was last seen by family on April 20, 2022, in Toronto. She has not had contact with her family since July 20.

This week, investigators said they recently learned that Hearty was in the area of Yonge Street and Bernard Avenue in Richmond Hill on Aug. 4.

Police had already reported that Hearty was seen in Newmarket on Aug. 10, around Davis Drive and Yonge Street.

Hearty was wearing a black leather jacket and carrying bags. 

She has ties to the Toronto area, however may travel elsewhere. 

She is familiar with public transit. 

Police described Hearty as vulnerable and said her family was concerned about her safety.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are asking for the public’s help in locating her.

She is described as:

  • 5’6”, 140 lbs
  • Thin build
  • Brown eyes 
  • Brown curly hair
  • Tattoo: Two daggers across chest
