Police still seeking bank robbery suspect

VAUGHAN - Investigators with the York Regional Police Hold-Up Unit are seeking public assistance in identifying a suspect that was captured on surveillance cameras wearing a gorilla mask during a bank robbery in the City of Vaughan.  

On Friday, June 15, 2018, at approximately 1:10 p.m., police were called to a bank located in the area of Bathurst Street and Steeles Avenue West following a report of an armed robbery. 

A male suspect entered the bank wearing a gorilla mask and brandishing a handgun. He obtained a quantity of cash and exited the bank on foot. No one was physically injured during the incident.

Investigators have exhausted all leads and are releasing images of the suspect and appealing to the public for assistance to identify him.

Suspect Description:

  • Male
  • 5’10”
  • Thin build
  • Wearing dark pants, dark long-sleeved shirt with hood pulled up and a gorilla mask over his face
  • Carrying a black bag
  • Armed with a handgun

The investigation is ongoing.
