At least one man was injured in a shooting in a parking lot in a busy entertainment district of Vaughan early Sunday.

York Regional Police received several reports of multiple gunshots in the parking lot near a sports bar on Interchange Way near Highway 7 Sept. 10 at about 1:05 a.m. Responding officers observed blood at the scene and recovered numerous shell casings, but no victims were located, police said.

Shortly afterward, police learned that a 20-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds had been dropped off at a Toronto hospital. His injuries were determined to be non-life-threatening.

Police believe there was an interaction in the parking lot between the occupants of at least two motor vehicles, possibly a red or maroon sedan and a white or silver SUV, prior to an exchange of gunfire. Both vehicles were driven away from the scene after the shooting.

Investigators believe the man who arrived at the hospital was an occupant of one of the vehicles.

"The area of the incident has hotels, bars and entertainment businesses. It is well travelled by pedestrians and vehicular traffic. Police believe there were numerous witnesses who may be able to assist with the investigation," police said in a news release.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with investigators, or any person with a video recording from the area around the time of the incident, such as from a vehicle dashcam, cell phone or security system, is asked to contact police as soon as possible.
