Police are investigating after a vehicle was shot at Thursday night in Vaughan.

York Regional Police was contacted at 10:15 p.m. by Toronto Police Service about a shooting near Rutherford Road and Julliard Drive earlier in the evening. Officers went to the area and found a spent bullet casing.

According to police, shortly before 10 p.m., a white Tesla was travelling eastbound on Fishermens Way, followed by a black Mercedes. A white SUV approached from behind, overtook both vehicles, and shots were fired from the SUV. The Tesla was struck, and the driver of the suspect vehicle fled, as did the Tesla and Mercedes drivers, police said in a news release.

Police later located the male drivers of the Tesla and Mercedes in Toronto. They were not injured.

The shooting is believed to have been targeted.

Police said three shootings occurred in the northwest area of Toronto between 9 and 10 p.m. the same night. York and Toronto police are looking into a possible link between the Vaughan shooting and those that occurred in Toronto.
