Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a suspicious fire in the Town of Newmarket.

On Sunday, April 11, 2021, shortly after midnight, York Regional Police were called to 17855 Leslie St. in Newmarket for a report that three tractor trailers were on fire at a commercial facility.

York Central Fire Services attended and extinguished the fire. Fortunately, no one was injured but investigators believe that the fire was intentionally set.

Officers determined that a lone male attended the location just before midnight on Saturday, April 10, 2021 and he is suspected of starting the fire. Investigators are releasing images of the suspect and asking anyone who can identify him to come forward.

Suspect: 

  • Male, white 
  • Slim build 
  • Dark brown or black hair 
  • Wearing ripped blue jeans and a black hoodie with a white t-shirt underneath.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area, or anyone with residential video surveillance that may have captured suspicious activity, to please come forward.
