Persons of interest caught on video prior to threatening letter left at house

York Regional Police are investigating an extortion after receiving a threats call in Vaughan

Investigators are seeking information on the identity of two persons of interest in an ongoing extortion investigation in the City of Vaughan. On Thursday, April 4, 2019, police attended a residence in the area of Bathurst Street and Shaftsbury Avenue for a threats call. The victim reported that he received a letter demanding that he pay a quantity of cash and included a warning if he did not pay.

Investigators reviewed video surveillance from the residence and observed two men who were captured on video on Wednesday April 3, 2019, at approximately 11 a.m., just prior to the letter being left. Investigators are seeking public assistance to identify these two persons of interest.

Person of Interest 1:

  • Male
  • Moustache and beard
  • Wearing an orange jacket, black track pants with a white stripe, grey cap and a black fanny pack

Person of Interest 2:

  • Male
  • Moustache and beard
  • Wearing a grey sweater, blue jeans, red cap, with a satchel worn over his shoulder
