A pedestrian suffered serious injuries after she was hit by what is believed to be a transport truck at the intersection of Highway 7 and Highway 27 in Vaughan this morning, police say.

The truck failed to remain at the scene, and York Regional Police is now appealing for witnesses.

Police responded to the scene on Thursday, Jan. 12, at around 6:15 a.m.

The victim was transported to hospital with what police describe as “serious, life-altering injuries”.

Police are seeking any witnesses who stopped at the scene and left prior to police arriving.

Police are also looking to speak with the driver of any transport truck or large-size truck who was travelling in the area at the time, who may have struck the pedestrian unknowingly or witnessed the collision.

Any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the collision, is being asked to come forward.

A portal has been set up to allow the community to upload video and photo evidence to the investigation file. You can submit evidence here.
