OPP lay 54 impaired, 83 dangerous driving charges in GTA

Two Newmarket residents are among 41 arrests Dec. 23 to Jan. 6

Fifty-four impaired-related and 83 dangerous driving and street racing charges were laid by the Ontario Provincial Police in the Greater Toronto Area from Dec. 23 to Jan. 6.

According to Sgt. Kerry Schmidt of the Highway Safety Division, drivers residing in York Region and area who were charged on GTA highways and roads patrolled by the OPP are:

  • Chrystal Cross, 40, Newmarket — Drive prohibited, Obstruct, Possession of drugs
  • Shaun Seetal, 27, Newmarket — Impaired driving, Failure to stop after accident, Dangerous operation, Drive under suspension
  • Kamande Njenga, 36, Markham — Failure/refusal to comply with demand, Race vehicle-excessive speed
  • Valter, Sousa Rego, 33, Vaughan — Impaired driving – 80 plus
  • Stephanie Wilkes, 39, King — Impaired driving – 80 plus, Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Alexey Pankratov, 37, Bradford-West Gwillimbury — Impaired Driving – 80 plus
  • Ali Amerian, 25, Richmond Hill — Impaired – 80 plus
