Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following two shootings that occurred in the City of Markham.

On Sunday, June 21, 2020, shortly before 2 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a residence on Risebrough Circuit for reports that shots had been fired at a residence. When officers arrived they found bullet holes in and shells casings at the residence. Investigators determined that a suspect was driving a light-coloured four-door sedan and had exited the vehicle and fired shots from a handgun. Fortunately, no one was injured.

During the investigation, officers learned that shots had been fired at a second location a short distance away at a residence on Empringham Crescent. There were no injuries in this incident and investigators determined that both shootings happened within a few minutes of each other and are believed to be connected.

Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area at the time of the shooting.

York Regional Police is asking residents and business owners in our community to partner with us in community safety by signing up for the new Security Camera Registry.
