Newmarket man arrested after vehicle stolen at Bradford gas station

A Newmarket man has been charged after a vehicle was reported stolen from a gas station in Bradford West Gwillimbury while its driver was filling up early Sunday.

A man said he was at a gas station at Bridge Street and Holland Street Nov. 5 at about 3:15 a.m. when another man entered the vehicle and drove off at a high rate of speed, according to a South Simcoe Police Service news release.

The vehicle collided with a parked vehicle in a neighbouring parking lot before a suspect fled on foot, police added.

A suspect was located by police at a residence, where he was arrested and subsequently treated in hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Cody Herriman, 27, is charged with motor vehicle theft and dangerous operation, police said.

The accused was released with a future court date.
