Multiple tow truck fires under investigation in Richmond Hill

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses after several tow trucks were set on fire in Richmond Hill.

On Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 at approximately 4:30 a.m., officers responded to a residence on Berwick Crescent in Richmond Hill for reports of a tow truck on fire. The fire was put out by Richmond Hill fire and there were no injuries.

On Monday, Dec. 23, 2019 at approximately 3:30 a.m., officers responded to two separate calls for two trucks on fire. One of the incidents occurred on Wood Lane, which is in the area of Mill Street, east of Bathurst. The second incident occurred on Collin Court which is in the area of Bathurst Street, north of Gamble Road. There were no injuries in either of the incidents and both tow trucks are believed to have been intentionally set on fire.

Officers are asking any witnesses who may have been in the area at the time of any of the incidents who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward. Investigators are also seeking any video surveillance from the area or anyone that may have captured dashcam video on the roadways in the area of any of the incidents.
