A warrant has been issued for a 25-year-old Markham man wanted for assault, assault by choking and forcible confinement after a violent assault was reported to York Regional Police.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and investigators are releasing an image of the suspect and are appealing to the public for any information on his whereabouts, police said in a news release.
Citizens are urged not to approach the suspect but to call police immediately.
A victim reported an assault that took place Wednesday, April 12 in Markham.
"The accused is encouraged to seek legal advice and turn himself in. Investigators are reminding the public that anyone providing assistance to the suspect may be subject to criminal charges," police said.
