Investigators with the York Regional Police #5 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid charges against a 19-year-old man in connection with a violent sexual assault in the City of Markham.
On June 14, 2021, officers responded to a report of a sexual assault. Officers located the victim who was taken to hospital with significant injuries.
Officers learned that the victim met the suspect on the dating app Tinder and had attended the suspect’s address on Kennedy Road in Markham. The victim was assaulted multiple times with a weapon and was sexually assaulted.
The suspect demanded money from the victim and took her out of the residence to obtain the cash. The victim was fortunately able to escape and contacted police.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, officers arrested the suspect and executed a search warrant at his residence.
The accused has been charged with several offences and investigators are appealing to anyone with information or any additional victims to please come forward.

• Masseiah Issac Ireland, 19, of Markham
• Alias name on Tinder: Jalen, age 28
Charges:
• Sexual assault with a weapon
• Forcible confinement
• Aggravated assault
• Extortion
The accused was held in custody and will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on June 15, 2021.
