A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant, and two boys aged 12 and 16, have been arrested following a series of robberies in the Greater Toronto Area, including in Vaughan.
After ordering employees into a backroom, three suspects fled with garbage bags full of sporting cards from a Langstaff Road business on Thursday, June 29 at approximately 5 p.m., York Regional Police said in a news release.
In July, investigators learned that one of the suspects was attempting to sell the stolen sports cards throughout the GTA. On July 20, 2023, he was arrested outside of a business in Burlington, police said. During the arrest, he was found to be in possession of a loaded firearm.
A substantial amount of stolen property was recovered, and a search warrant executed at an address in Toronto resulted in the additional recovery of stolen sports cards, police said.
On July 26, the two outstanding suspects turned themselves in at the #4 District police station in Vaughan, police said.
Oluwaseum Ojo, 25 of Toronto, has been charged with possession of a prohibited/restricted firearm with ammunition, robbery, possession of a firearm contrary to a prohibition order, possession of property obtained by crime, and obstruct peace officer.
Ojo was on parole for unrelated charges and on two firearms prohibitions at the time of these offences, police said. He was also wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for failing to abide by the conditions of his release order.
A 12-year-old and a 16-year-old youth, both of Toronto, have been charged with robbery and disguise with intent.
