Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses and three suspects after a shooting incident at a residence in the City of Richmond Hill.

On Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2022, at approximately 11:20 p.m., York Regional Police responded to a residence on Yonge Street, between Dalemont Gate and Bantry Avenue, for a report of sounds of gunshots. When officers arrived at the scene, they located a 37-year-old male victim suffering from injuries.

Investigators learned the victim was walking in a laneway when the three male suspects attacked and assaulted the victim, stealing his keys and other personal property. The three suspects returned to a white vehicle and one suspect fired a handgun at the victim before fleeing the scene. Fortunately, the victim was not injured by the shots fired but by the assault.

The victim was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The suspects are described as: Male, Black.

Investigators continue to appeal for any witnesses who have not yet spoken with police to come forward, as well as anyone with residential video surveillance or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
