UPDATE: 2 men charged following shooting in Thornhill

UPDATE, Oct. 26: Investigators with the #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged two Markham men following a shooting on Oct. 23. Investigation revealed that there was an altercation outside of a townhouse complex, which resulted in a man being shot.

Officers arrested two men at the scene and they have been charged. O’Brian Ramgeet, 44, of Markham is charged with attempt murder, aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, possession of a prohibited firearm with Ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging firearm with intent, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and breach of recognizance.

The firearm was not located and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators with the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau are seeking witnesses following a shooting in the City of Markham.

On Friday, Oct. 23, 2020, at 12:39 a.m., York Regional Police were called to a townhouse complex at 85 Henderson Ave. for a report of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found a 36-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to hospital and will survive his injury.

Officers were directed to a townhome where they located a suspect and arrested a 44-year-old man.

There is a significant police presence in the area as officers continue to search for evidence.

Investigators are seeking any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to please come forward.
