A man and a woman have been arrested after a loaded handgun and drugs were seized during a RIDE traffic stop in Vaughan Thursday.
Officers were conducting RIDE spot checks at Highway 400 and Steeles Avenue West Thursday, April 13 at about 2:10 a.m., when marijuana was observed in a red Honda Civic, York Regional Police said in a news release.
A loaded handgun, loaded magazine and drugs were found when the vehicle was searched, police said.
A driver and passenger were arrested.
Ziddan Patterson, 24, of Toronto and Carmen Munoz Canas, 24, of no fixed address, have been charged with a combined 15 offences, police said, including:
• Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition;
• Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized;
• Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available;
• Possession for the purpose – cocaine;
• Obstruct peace officer and drive motor vehicle – no licence.
