Innisfil man faces 115 charges in firearms trafficking investigation

York Regional Police assisted with the search of home, where officers seized 20 firearms, 5,000 rounds of ammunition, and prohibited devices including high-capacity magazines

The South Simcoe Police Service has arrested an Innisfil man and laid more than 115 charges following a firearms investigation.

In February 2024, police received information relating to a man believed to be purchasing and trafficking firearms without a proper licence.  

On Tuesday, March 5, officers took the man into custody. 

As part of the investigation, York Regional Police assisted with the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the area of Webster Boulevard and Innisfil Beach Road. During a search of the home, officers located and seized 20 firearms, a large quantity of ammunition (about 5,000 rounds), and various prohibited devices including high-capacity magazines, police said.

Diosdado "Sunny" Lagman, 52, was charged with over 115 Criminal Code offences, including utter threats to cause death, unauthorized possession of firearm, firearms trafficking, and unauthorized possession of a prohibited device.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Investigators are thanking members of the South Simcoe street crime, emergency response, canine, and community mobilization and engagement units, forensic identification services, the Chief Firearms Office, Town of Innisfil bylaw staff, County of Simcoe and York Region paramedics, and members of the YRP emergency response unit for their assistance.
