Investigators with the York Regional Police #4 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged three men after their vehicle was stopped for a RIDE check and an improvised firearm was discovered in the City of Vaughan.
On Saturday, Nov. 14, 2020 shortly before 4 a.m., an officer was conducting mobile RIDE sobriety checks in the area of Steeles Avenue and Islington Avenue where a vehicle was stopped and investigated. The vehicle had three occupants and the officer spotted an open bottle of liquor. Further investigation revealed approximately 10 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be illicit drugs. All three occupants were placed under arrest.
During a further search of the vehicle officers located an improvised firearm loaded with a .22 calibre bullet as well as break-and-enter tools.

• Possession of break-in instrument
• Possession of a controlled substance
• Possession for the purpose of trafficking
• Possession of prohibited firearm with ammunition
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
• Fail to comply with undertaking
• Possession of a weapon contrary to order
Charged:
• Abdoulkader Abdi, 27, City of Toronto
Charges include:
• Possession of break-in instrument
• Drive while under suspension
• Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
Charged:
• 17-year-old youth from the City of Toronto
Charges include:
• Possession of break-in instrument
