Homicide unit investigating after woman found dead in Vaughan fire

York Regional Police homicide investigators are seeking witnesses after a woman was found in a house fire in Vaughan tonight.

Police were called to assist Vaughan Fire and Rescue Services in the area of Parktree Drive and Lucena Crescent in Maple, near Canada's Wonderland, on Friday, Sept. 23 at about 7:45 p.m.

The unresponsive female victim was transported to hospital, where she was pronounced deceased, police said.

There is no threat to public safety and the investigation is ongoing, police added.
