Holland Landing man arrested after collision with traffic light

The 30-year-old man was arrested on an outstanding OPP warrant and was later charged with impaired driving in Bradford

A 30-year-old Holland Landing man with an outstanding warrent was arrested for impaired driving after a traffic light was knocked down in a collision in Bradford Friday night.

A 2004 Infinity SUV travelling on Holland Street West had left the roadway, mounted the centre median and struck a traffic light post at 9:53 p.m. on May 19, South Simcoe Police said in a news release.

A man at the scene was arrested when found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant issued by the Ontario Provincial Police, police said.

After failing a roadside screening device, a man was transported to the police station for further tests.

As a result the driver was charged with: impaired operation - alcohol and drugs s.320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code; and impaired operation - blood alcohol concentration s.320(1)(b) Criminal Code.

His vehicle was impounded for seven days and licence suspended for 90 days under Ontario’s administrative drivers licence suspension program. The accused is to appear in Bradford court in June.
