UPDATE, 4:50 p.m.: York Regional Police are reporting Lloydtown-Aurora Road has been re-opened.

**************

A section of Lloydtown-Aurora Road is closed due to hazardous conditions and motor vehicle collisions in the area.

York Regional Police said the road is closed between Highway 27 and 8th Concession Road in the Township of King.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes.

There is currently no estimated time for the re-opening.

Ontario Provincial Police is also warning of dangerous driving conditions and zero visibility this afternoon on nearby Highway 400.

The highway is closed south of Barrie between Mapleview and Highway 89 due to multiple collisions in the area.

"If you don't need to be on the roads today please stay off. If you're stuck on the roads it's going to be a slow drive wherever you are," said OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

He said the reduced visibility is due to lake effect snow and added that the roads are slippery and treacherous.
