A fundraiser has been started for the Barrie family who lost their home and vehicles in a fire earlier this week.
Wednesday's early morning blaze in the city's north end caused significant damage to the house, with one person suffering minor injuries.
As of 1 p.m. Friday, 29 donations have been made to an online GoFundMe campaign, with $5,275 raised of the $10,000 goal.
Yvonne Munshaw, of Barrie, who is listed as the organizer of the fundraiser, could not be reached for comment.
However, she wrote in the details of the GoFundMe page that her best friend and co-worker's house "went up in flames ... everyone made it out and are OK."
"She has lost everything, even her car." Munshaw added. "I'm hoping we can all come together to help her in any way we can. She would never ask anyone for anything, ever, so I am. This woman is the hardest-working person I know."
Barrie Fire crews responded to the call around 4 a.m. on April 17 for a blaze at 56 Geddes Cres., near Livingstone Street West and Sunnidale Road.
Everyone inside the home escaped the blaze, with one person suffering minor injuries. They were treated by paramedics at the scene.
“The scene has been released back to the homeowner's representatives," assistant deputy chief Derek Wilson told BarrieToday on Friday.
“The fire started in the garage. Our investigators are still working through the process to determine the cause,” he added.
No damage estimate has been provided at this time.
